Adret joins Ormond Editions

We are delighted to introduce Adret, a French furniture publishing house founded by Guillaume Gibert & Baptiste Rischmann in 2025. Its name comes from an ancient word. It evokes the sun-drenched slope of a mountain where the rock warms—a place hospitable to humanity. It is there that they place their objects — conceived as landscapes. Pieces that are grounded, elegant, and essential.

The collection celebrates exceptional craftsmanship — as both a conviction and a demanding playground. Each piece tells its own story — that of a gesture, a material, a balance discovered. Adret is the common thread, the discreet bond weaving these individualities together. From this ensemble emerges a quiet sophistication, almost instinctive — the essence of a collection.

 

OCTO Sofa & Large Swivel Armchair

Inspired by the modernist furniture of the inter-war period — from the designs of Pierre Chareau to more recent works by Bernard Govin — the OCTO series revisits the notion of comfort with an approach that is both sensual and meticulous. Its chamfered surfaces create a clean, almost architectural outline, while the generous seat and inner curves reveal an unexpected softness.

Whether as a sofa or a large swivel armchair, each piece is designed for entertaining and conversation. They are not occasional pieces, but central elements that structure a space while inviting relaxation. The OCTO series achieves a perfect balance between rigour and warmth.

ROCKY Side table

ROCKY stands out above all for its dense, almost primitive materiality. It almost plays with its own bulk, balancing between mass and void. Its design is like an abstract extrusion, almost architectural. Thin upstands form a frame around its surface. A visual, almost ritualistic boundary that invites you to arrange, compose and install. ROCKY thereby becomes a landscape to be experienced, in which objects can be placed and stories written.

 

ESTHER Armchair

Designed in the 1970s by Swiss artist Esther Hess, this armchair has travelled through the ages with its modernity intact, making it a natural choice for ADRET. Made from a sheet of Altuglas that is heated and then pressed into a mould, the structure is formed in a single continuous movement, both supple and taut. Its reproduction has been undertaken with care and respect, in collaboration with both Esther Hess’s Parisian gallery owner and her son, drawing on carefully conserved archives. ESTHER is not simply an armchair, but a manifesto piece at the crossroads of art and design. ADRET thereby pays tribute to Esther Hess’s radical and delicate vision, which remains resolutely contemporary.

MEDUSA Mirror

MEDUSA revisits the frame’s simple form to make it into a truly expressive object. Following in the footsteps of designs by Line Vautrin or Georges Jouve, this mirror assumes a powerful, almost totemic decorative presence, on the borderline between functional and sculptural. Rough-cut at the edges, the lava stone retains its mineral ruggedness. A crackle glaze covers the geometric slopes, catching the light and revealing the texture of the material. MEDUSA finds its poise in a subtle harmony: an object that attracts and intrigues.

DOMINO Floor lamp

DOMINO is the fruit of a meeting with the ceramicist Alice Trescarte. In a move to rethink the floor lamp – the likes of those by Jean-Michel Frank or Jacques Adnet – DOMINO is notable for its more contemporary, unpolished appearance. Formed of glazed ceramic modules, the base follows the principle of a visible, almost constructivist stacking. It is this repetition and balancing act that rhythm the piece and give it its name. The ceramic, worked in the Japanese Tenmoku manner, gives an intense black surface with a deep sheen, speckled with warm highlights. The lampshade softens the raw verticality of the base. And when the lamp is illuminated, the light caresses the varnish, highlighting the edges and picking out the reliefs. DOMINO asserts an elegant and timeless presence.

 

The collection is entirely handcrafted in France.
